Vertigo & Sine Chairs

Vertigo Chair
Similar to paper, felt can be scored to create a three dimensional form.
The idea was to make a two dimensional planar chair cover, that when put on a frame, dropped to form a contoured seat.
Felt is a non woven fabric, and when it is thick enough, it won't rip or tear.
Sine Chair
Felt can absorb sound, pressure and liquid.
It is found in some acoustic panels, old suits of armour, and used as washers etc.
With this piece, I wanted to make a flowing piece of fabric become rigid.
With the help of a boat builder, epoxy and a fibreglass core, it was possible to achieve a very thin but strong form.
The felt adhered to the epoxy.
